A Special Update Regarding Armin and Connie Schmidt!

Armin and Connie Schmidt welcome your prayers this evening and over the next few days as they deal with an unexpected setback on top of multiple, ongoing stressors.

Armin continues to work hard on his recovery from surgery for a brain tumor at Forest Hills Rehabilitation Center in Broken Arrow . The combination of daily activity therapies (physical, speech, etc.) with radiation is a lot to handle. Often, he feels both exhausted and frustrated by the end of the day. If you would like to visit him at this time, they are requesting very short visits after 3pm.

Connie – Armins constant companion and support – became ill and was admitted to Saint Francis South with appendicitis and pneumonia. Her surgery to remove her appendix went extremely well, and she’s looking to be home as soon as she can. Connie and Armin call each other frequently to keep in touch and keep each other motivated.

We will keep you updated as to both of their needs, but for now, just hold them both in prayer – and their daughter, Debbie, their son-in-law and their grandkids as well.

From everyone at Community of Hope, Companions, friends and everyone in between!

* If you’d like their room numbers to go visit them, please email me, the Administrative Assistant, and I will give them to you. I will not post them publicly. (However, a quicker way to get all of this information is to join our mailing list by clicking the top right link on the page!)

Call To Prayer!

Our Companion, Armin had a mild stroke. He is stable and in good spirits, but is experiencing confusion and some verbal difficulties. It was also discovered that Armin has a mass in his head which has been judged to be malignant.

So now Armin is sporting a new look! Of course he has his “God is Still Speaking” ballcap ready for when he is outside. His surgery is Friday July 20th at 12pm. He is currently at home with his wife, Connie, and family members. Please keep those prayers going!

Armin and Connie appreciate your thoughts, hopes, cards, notes and prayers from their friends around the world, UCC friends and their Companions at Community of Hope! (And he loves all of you all too!)

Grounds Beautification Meeting!

The gnome hath speaketh! There is to be a Grounds Beautification Meeting!

What: Grounds Beautification Meeting

When: Thursday, April 26th | Saturday, April 28th

Where: Ministry Team Office at Community of Hope

Time: 6pm – 7pm | 1pm – 2pm

Why: To discuss the needs Community of Hope has for volunteers to help keep the grounds of our wonderful building beautiful: lawn mowing, weed pulling, weed eating, flower planting, etc.

Everyone knows that keeping the inside of our place of worship neat, tidy and welcoming is an important part of adding to the inviting atmosphere Community of Hope is known for – but what about the outside?

The outside is just as important! A pleasant and beautiful outside reflects our effort into our building, which is such an integral part of who we are; It allows us to gather, to worship and to welcome new Companions into its fold!

If you’re interested in attending this meeting to discuss volunteering in any way to help keep our grounds beautiful, please come to the Ministry Team Office at Community of Hope (2545 S. Yale Ave.) for the Grounds Beautification Meeting at 6pm. All are welcome, Companions and friends alike!

Can’t make it on Thursday? You’re in luck! We will have a second meeting on Saturday, April 28th from 1pm – 2pm in the same location. Again, all are welcome!
